I’ve had a little bit of cake smash experience here at my Kansas City photography studio over the years, and sometimes when those sessions have to happen during a school break (summer, winter, spring, etc) my children get to come along for it. They typically hang out in the back room, arguing over whose turn it is with the iPad, until they hear we’ve reached the cake smash portion… then my daughter and triplets suddenly have an interest in what their mom is up to!
That’s right – I said triplets. Did you know I have triplets?
So these handsome triplets of mine have watched the cake smashes in my studio with great interest and enjoyment. Almost a year ago they asked me if they could see pictures from their cake smash. Uhh… At this point I had to break it to them that I had not done a cake smash session with them when they turned one – I didn’t really know it was a “thing”, but I could show them humorous video from their first birthday party!
They thought the video was dull, because they were side by side in highchairs.
To make matters worse, they then discovered their little sister did get a cake smash session when she turned one!
“Hey, could we do a cake smash now? Even though we’re older?”
I thought that sounded like a pretty great idea, and we agreed we’d do it for their 10th birthday.
Guess who turned 10 over the weekend… Yep, my kind, determined, caring boys – Jackson, Ty, and Chase.
There’s a reason why I could not and would not allow this chaos to happen inside of my studio…. I’d of needed to cover all surfaces with plastic sheeting!
I had my little side-kick Lily trying to take video for me! Most of the footage is of herself, the dog, and the ground… that’s what I get for handing the phone to a 6 year old {wink}
