-Preface-
committed to learning, growing, and serving
I’m Helen Ransom, the owner and artist behind Helen Ransom Photography, a studio based in Kansas City. The first 14 and half years in business this studio was known as Faces You Love Photography, but in February of 2026 the business underwent a metamorphosis and became known as Helen Ransom Photography.
I’m one of the many KC transplants that comes for a job, thinks they’ll only be here for a few years, and suddenly finds themselves so in love with this city that they can’t see themselves leaving any time soon! Kansas City has been home for over 20 years now, and I've been serving Kansas City area families and businesses with their portrait session needs since June of 2011.
I proudly live in Grandview, MO where I serve as the school board president and am doing my best to raise 4 amazing human beings; identical triplet boys who are now officially considered adults but are seniors in high school and a 15 year old daughter that is only 6 months older than this business. Yes, triplets…. I think it’s what really kicked off my baby soothing skills, which have morphed into baby whispering skills!
One of the very best parts of this job has been meeting so many amazing people, whether at family sessions, networking meetings, headshot days, or our next generation of adults - high school seniors. I look forward to meeting you next!
xoxo,
Helen Ransom
Volunteer work
What good is a gift if we don't find ways to use it for good? Each month I visit the NICU at Saint Luke's on the Plaza and take free photographs of 8-10 babies currently in the unit. I've been doing this since 2015 and it is easily one of my most rewarding days each month! In 2025 I spent time catching up with some of the babies I had photographed over the years; you can read their stories and see updated photos here on my After the NICU page.
things i love
I love an evening out with friends, warm places (why do I live where winter sometimes hurts my face?!), laughing, coffee, reading, and softball and baseball (let's go Royals, and my kids!).
My kids are everything
These four drive me daily to be a better person. While parenting is incredibly hard, it is also wildly gratifying and I wouldn't have traded any of this for the world. Seeing my three boys about to launch into adulthood, with their sister close behind, has me feeling lots of things and embracing this season of transition.
