Since January 2020, I have been plotting to buy a permanent studio space. I’m weary of renting and not having control of the situation when things go wrong in a building. I’m weary of making a “do I stay or go?” decision every 2-3 years when a lease is up.
Late last fall I gave my notice – I would be moving out, and the plan was to finally buy a building of my very own!
Guess what still hasn’t happened?
I still haven’t found “my” building. Ugh. After analyzing my choices to death, I’ve made a decision. Beginning May 1st….
What does this mean?!
Basically, for a short time (I’m hoping 4-6 months), I’ll be going back to how I was doing business before my first studio 8 years ago. Backdrops, props, lights, and my hair and makeup artist – it’ll all travel with me to your home or to a daily rental at another studio. For headshots, it may travel to your office (which is something I offered already).
Remember, this is only temporary! Rather than being stuck in another lease somewhere else (I can’t just extend this current space – I already asked), this will give me the flexibility to purchase and renovate exactly the right space. I’m hopeful that just right place comes along in a matter of months, and I’m all moved in ahead of the crazy busy fall.
Before Your Session
- session planning appointment will happen in your home or via Zoom.
Session Day
- Hair & Makeup artist will either travel to you, or you may travel to her if that’s less stressful for you.
- I will bring my studio set up to your home! If that doesn’t sound appealing to you, I am more than happy to rent a studio space nearby.
- For headshots, I can come to your office or rent a studio space
After Your Session
- The ordering appointment will take place in your home!
- I’ll bring your images on the lap top, and will connect to your TV for large viewing.
- For this period, the gallery reveal wall will take an obvious hiatus.
- Print orders will then be delivered to your home when ready.
I hope that overall you’ll find this temporary shift very convenient for you! This will all happen without my usual travel fee being added on. Here’s to having news on a building soon. My calendar is now open for regular session bookings through August, and taking newborn due dates through the end of the year.
