While I’ve done plenty of family sessions within and around the confines of my studio (hello, private little courtyard in back!), I do love breaking free and meeting a family on location around Kansas City for their family portraits!
Not far down Wornall from my studio is the always beautiful Loose Park! This is such a hot spot, that I pretty much avoid it like the plague, unless it’s super early in the morning. I’m the first to admit it – I’m a lazy photoshopper and hate removing people from the backgrounds of images, plus there’s the whole “stand around and wait” for the best spots issue there at times. 7:30 in the morning though? Perfection!
Sure it’s early, but if your kiddos are early risers anyway, it’s a fabulous time do have a session! The light is kinder and prettier, the air temperature is cooler, the parks (or streets if urban) are empty, and donuts make the perfect reward for a session well done.
When I first met this sweet family 7 years ago, they were only a family of 3.. now they’re a family of 6, and have been in front of my camera each time a new member is added! I love working with them, watching their family grow, and helping them create beautiful wall art & groupings for their home!
