Friends, family, and long-time supporters of my little Kansas City photography business know that I’ve been doing volunteer NICU photo sessions 9-10 times a year for almost 3 years now. Those sessions enable me to gift families the beautiful photos I wish I had of own preemies’ time in the NICU.
Many people have commented on how this must be a great way for me to make new client connections, but it really is not, and clearly not why I do these! Hundreds of babies and nearly 3 years later, I finally can say a family has brought their recently discharged baby to see me at the studio for a newborn session!
Here he is in the NICU, where I first met him and his lovely mama…
And then 3 weeks later when they came to the studio for their newborn photography session!
Absolutely perfect, isn’t he?! He slept like a dream, and still enjoyed being curled up, as many preemies do right up to their original due date. I feel so honored that they chose me to capture his first studio portraits!
